The Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School has held its very first youth camp on Majorca from 27 to 28 September 2014. A total of eight successful young German players took part in the two-day polo course on the southwest coast of Majorca. Four of the polo pupils are the winners of the 8th FIP Polo Youth Camp 2014, which took place at the Hamburg Polo Club at the end of May 2014. As part of its commitment to fostering up-and-coming talent, the Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School endowed the prize to the winning team of participation in the youth camp on Majorca. The participants of the first youth camp of the Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School with Coach Thomas Winter (right), currently Germany’s best polo player, and Christian Völkers, CEO of E&V AG
“We are thrilled that the first youth camp on Majorca was set to give children and young people the opportunity to learn polo under ideal training conditions and with a qualified team of trainers. Nurturing young talent is a particular priority for us, and a valuable investment in the future of the sport,” said Christian Völkers, CEO of Engel & Völkers AG. The youth camp hosted by the Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School aims to make it easier for up-and-coming players to start out in the sport, and to spot and support genuine talent at an early stage. The training program for the youth camp on Majorca included a general introduction to polo, practicing different types of riding and hitting techniques, and consolidating knowledge of playing strategies.
Polo School is planning further youth camps in the future
Due to the high level of demand, the Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School plans to expand on its youth work and organise additional youth camps over the coming year. “We would like to provide children and young people with the best possible support by expanding on the number of youth camps we offer. These camps are very important for young polo players, as they are an excellent way of keeping checks on their current abilities alongside others of their own age,” Christian Völkers added.
Christian Völkers founded the Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School together with Rackham F. Schröder, Managing Partner of E&V in Berlin, and Thomas Winter, currently the best polo player in Germany. With the British off-road vehicle brand Land Rover, Engel & Völkers has gained a reputable cooperation partner for the Polo School. Land Rover has long been involved in the promotion of sporting and leisure activities, and would like to make polo more popular. The Engel & Völkers + Land Rover Polo School offers courses in Hamburg, Berlin, Argentina and on Majorca.
