Engel & Völkers is now brokering the former villa of Hollywood star Stewart Granger in Estepona on Spain’s Costa del Sol. The property, built in 1978, was acquired by the actor for the extensive land plot with its unspoilt native vegetation. “It is the proximity to the sea, the unique panoramic views and outstanding architecture that make this home so special,” said Augusto Vidal, Managing Partner of Engel & Völkers in Estepona. The property is currently for sale for 12.5 million euros.
Subtantial home set in sprawling park grounds
The villa was designed by renowned architect Manuel Camisuli and spans 937 square metres. It is set in grounds of around 80 hectares in size. Andalusian influences blend here with Mexican architectural design. Each of the 11 rooms features its own hand-decorated fireplace. The whole property was renovated with great care in 2015. In addition, the villa boasts a 600-square-metre guesthouse overlooking the sea. There is also a private heliport between the main house and guesthouse, as well as several water wells.
The English film actor Stewart Granger enjoyed his greatest Hollywood hits in the 1950s. He starred in various Western and adventure movies. In Germany, Stewart Granger is still best known for his role as “Old Surehand” in the famous Karl May films.
Between Marbella and Sotogrande, the vibrant town of Estepona has an historic centre filled with Andalusian charm. The variety of leisure opportunities on offer makes Estepona a desirable second home market. Sought-after homes here only rarely come onto the market, meaning demand is high as a result.
