Anděl Prague-West: Location and surroundings of this property

Zbraslav, a former city in its own right, is now a city bourough and cadastral area in the south part of Prague. Almost all of the borough’s area lies between the left bank of the Vltava and the right bank of the Berounka rivers, but a small area (so-called Závist) extends to the right bank of the Vltava, where the Prague-Zbraslav train station is situation. The left and right banks of the Vltava are connected by the Závodu Míru road bridge. The first mention of Zbraslav in a written record dates from the year 1115, from a document of Vladislav I describing the area as property of the Kladruby Monastery; the Zbraslav chronicle from the beginning of the 14th century describes Zbraslav as a fishing village. Centuries later, in the period of the First Republic, the famous doctor Vladislav Vančura practiced here, and at the beginning of the 1990’s the author Michal Viewegh worked here as a teacher, later immortalizing his experience in the book Bringing Up Girls in Bohemia The borough boasts excellent civic amenities and facilities, train and bus stations, a post office and school - all conveniently within 20 minutes of the centre of Prague. The Belvedere woodland park is an attractive public space where people can go to relax, do sports, and meet other residents; another attraction is the Zbraslav castle.
