Košíře is a part of the greater Prague 5 area, specifically located on the right bank of the Motol stream. The quarter is bordered by Smíchov to the North and East, Motol to the West, and Jinonice and Radlice to the South. The Košíře housing development is located mainly on the Northern face of the Vidoule mountain (where you’ll find mostly villas) and the underlying valley (mostly rental apartment buildings). Pleasantly, this district was not affected by the mass wave of communist-style block-of-flat housing developments that are now found in so many areas. The area also boasts plenty of greenery; in the west you will find the Košíře-Motol nature park featuring the former Cibulka vineyard estate. In the town above Košíře Square, you will find one of the areas dominant focal points of interest - the Jan Nepomucký Church, built in the Functionalist style, as well several preserved homesteads including Šmukýřka, Cibulka, and Buďánka. Regarding transportation, two main commuter roads - Plzeňská and Vrchlického streets - run along Košíře’s northern border. Railroad tracks, on the other hand, run along its southern border, with rail service no. 122 stopping serving the area. Other public transportation is provided by trams going from the Sídliště Řepy station to Anděl, and by bus no. 123 from the Kavalírka stop. The area also provides all necessary public amenities, a wide repertoire of cultural activities, and an abundance of schools, other conveniences, as well as plenty of restaurants.
