You might not automatically assume a highchair could be a piece of growing furniture, but many modern designs now allow for progressive removal of the initial safety features until their first feeding chair becomes a stool-style dinner chair for more grown-up mealtimes. Some modern cradle designs even tilt and transform into a highchair for once you’ve stopped breast or bottle feeding your infant.
The changing tray
Who would have thought you could reuse a changing tray? The handy drawers under your child’s changing tray, which once held nappies and wet wipes, can often be reused as wall-mounted shelves, catering to your child’s growing collection of possessions. Sleek changing-table designs may also be reusable as, or convert into, a first desk for your little one.
If you haven’t created your child’s first desk from their former bed, you should consider a first desk that will grow with your child. A simple way to help it conform to your kid’s ever-changing favourite colour and theme, is to keep decorating the desk – perhaps for the start of a school year or in time for a birthday surprise. Some desks have the option of becoming taller to accommodate your child’s ever-growing legs, while many modern chair designs allow for little ones’ armrests to be removed for a more grown-up seat.
