Real Estate Recovery in Barcelona

Joan Galo Macià - Engel & Völkers BarcelonaIn spite of the continuing delicate situation of the Spanish economy, the year 2013 has marked the beginning of a certain inflection in the real estate sector. This is shown by the results obtained by Engel & Völkers who, during last year, grew 48,5% in Spain with respect to 2012, with a total of 603 properties sold at an average price of 719,759 €, and 435 let at an average of 2,496 €. The city of Barcelona is where the company has carried out more than 14% of its sales, with a total of 87 properties sold at an average price of 601,841 € and 184 let at an average of 1,683,42 €.

Joan-Galo Macià, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Barcelona, confirms that it’s an optimum moment to invest in Barcelona and explains the reasons that have made the city one of the favourites for investment among international buyers. “The Catalan Capital arouses great interest among international clientele, attracted by the interesting prices which the properties present after 5 years of a continual drop, as well as by its totic and climate condition, and by the great importance that the Barcelona brand has worldwide.

All of these factors combined with the effects of the new Law of Entrepreneurs, which grants Spanish residence permits to Non-EU foreigners who purchase properties of more than 500,000 €, and which has aroused interest among communities such as the Russian or Chinese”.
