This year, Fira de Barcelona will once again host the European Congress of Cardiology, which the European Society of Cardiology organises every year by choosing a different country from the continent for each edition.
The European Congress of Cardiology Barcelona 2017 will take place from the 26th to the 30th of August, at the premises of the Gran Vía complex in Fira de Barcelona. With this edition, it will be the fifth time that the City of Barcelona hosts this event. It is one of the most important scientific and medical meetings in the world, after having already held the congresses back in 1992, 1999, 2009 and 2014.
Each year the European Congress of Cardiology brings together specialists in the medical sector from 140 different countries around the world as well as companies that show attendees the latest innovative advances in surgery and cardiology and other techniques based on the most advanced technology. The last edition, which was held in Rome back in 2016, brought together over 30,000 experts, with the presentation of more than 11,000 scientific studies on the subject.
During this 2017 edition of the European Congress of Cardiology, up to 150 different topics that relate to cardiovascular disease will be discussed and 500 scientific sessions will be held, led by recognised experts in the field. They will focus on important issues such as the diagnosis, treatment process Of cardiovascular diseases and the scientific research related to these conditions.

In addition, during this edition the congress will focus in particular on the so-called Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the first intervention of this type, which marked a notable improvement in patients who suffer from this condition.
An essential part of this congress is its exhibition area, where the latest innovations in the sector will be presented and taught by experts. There will also be scientific debate and the exchange of ideas with experts from critical areas in development and research on cardiovascular diseases and treatments.
This exhibition area covers a wide range of issues, ranging from the latest medications to state-of-the-art electronic devices, including advanced diagnostic and telemedicine tools, high-resolution imaging, and clinical management software.
