The majestic silhouette of Montseny is recognisable from a distance: an impressive mountain range between Osona, Vallés Oriental and Selva, where since ancient times has been the source of inspiration for many stories and legends.

Montseny Natural Park, with an area of just over 30,000 hectares, consists of three mountain ranges with their length and height as high as Sierra Prelitoral.
Among its lush forests of beech, fir, pine and oak trees many endemic species exist. In this sense fauna of Montseny, with own domain Mediterranean and Central European ecosystem characteristics, it is a clear example of adaptation to the diversity of environments in a natural space. It is listed by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve since 1978 and is part of the Network of Natural Parks of Spain.
Nobody escapes the enchantment. The Montseny walking trails are immersed in an atmosphere in which freedom and peace are the protagonists. Life in this natural environment beats at a different pace and has done so since the early Megalithic settlements in the Sierra del Arca to fortified farmhouses of the late nineteenth century or the Roman presence in Can Terrers.
The people who used to occupy these lands and those who presently reside in any of the eighteen municipalities at Montseny do so with the tranquility of being protected by this imposing mountain range and take pride in preserving its history, culture and traditions in a beautiful natural setting.
Rural tourism has become the main economic activity of an enclave that's traditionally linked to agricultural and livestock activities. However, the service sector has developed substantially in order to maintain the rich natural surroundings.
Whether as a holiday destination or a place of residence, Montseny Natural Park has a wide range of outdoor activities. Hundreds of visitors travel annually using a network of trails (on foot, horseback or bicycle) and take advantage of this park's unique terrain characteristics in order to practice many sporting activities such as climbing, flying fishing, and abseiling.
