Perfecting your CV as a real estate consultant

You may be thinking about applying for a position as a real estate consultant. Considering the current market situation and its strong growth, this is certainly a unique opportunity in career terms. However, do not rush into anything and take care of every detail when presenting your CV to employers. In fact, even if you have already written your CV, review it first by taking into account the advice that we are going to give you here.

1. Add a summary that grabs attention

Your CV should begin with a summary of no more than 5 or 6 lines in which, beyond detailing your training or work experience, it focuses on capturing the attention of the person who will be reading it. Be a little original, bold and confident. Do not forget to convey professionalism and enthusiasm for the company you have worked for.

2. Never forget that this is a commercial job

If you get the job as a real estate consultant, you will have to perform many different roles, and the most important one being the commercial part. That means your mission will be to sell houses. Therefore, you must make it clear in your CV that you have the right skills for the position. Take advantage of this opportunity to sell yourself and reach your career goal.

3. Do not include irrelevant information in your CV

The person in charge of hiring you will not be interested in knowing whether you have worked as a waiter or did a photography course before. Therefore, just include your training and most relevant experience for the position and add a section that highlights your achievements. For example, if you have previously worked as a consultant and received an award or fulfilled an excellent sales figure, don't be afraid to mention it.

4. Be brief

A good real estate consultant knows that beating around the bush is never the right thing to do. Make sure that your CV does not take more than one hour to read. In fact, most employers won't bother reading the document if it's too long. If your CV is too detailed, shorten it and add an external link to allow the hiring manager to find out more about you, should they wish to do so.

5. Do not create an impersonal CV

Your CV should always be addressed to the person responsible for hiring on behalf of the company you want to work for. It is best to do a little research and find out their name. If this is not possible, send your CV to the human resources department of the company and its manager.
