Situated on the eastern part of Benidorm is the district of Rincón de Loix, one of the most popular areas of the city. It is recognizable by its large beach front and abundance of skyscrapers that stretch towards the slopes of the Serra Gelada Natural Park. Rincón de Loix is located East of the Levante area of Benidorm, thus sharing a portion of the popular beach. ‘Racó de l’Oix’ is the district’s name in the Valencian dialect, with ‘Rincón de Loix’ as its Catalan counterpart. Rincón de Loix is pronounced ring-con de lo-is, with the ‘R’ having a trill—or a rolling sound commonly used in the Spanish language—and an emphasis on ‘con’. ‘Loix’ is a Catalan word that is pronounced as ‘Lois’ or Lo-is in Castellano. The beach offers different types of water sports for beachgoers to experience. Scuba diving, snorkeling and water skiing are just a few of the water sports one can try out. Shops selling gear are situated around the beach area, with some even offering classes.
