In the Baix Empordà region, the town of Pals, a small medieval town with 2,500 inhabitants, is one of the most beautiful on the Costa Brava.
Its beautiful cobbled streets, its walls and its Gothic buildings receive numerous tourists throughout the year and especially in the summer months.
Its territory even extends to the sea (almost 6 km from the center), where the extensive Platja de Pals is located (divided into Platja Gran, to the south; and Platja del Grau, to the north).
In this article, we talk about the main places to see in Villa de Pals and its magnificent beach.
Pals Beach
The Villa de Pals is quite small but the extension of the municipality is surprisingly large.
Pals Beach forms a unique natural environment with the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands and Bajo Ter, which is why, in its surroundings, there are numerous hiking trails.
Thanks to its pine forests, dunes and the fantastic views of the Medes Islands, Pals beach stands out for its crystal clear waters and extensive strips of golden sand, surrounded by nature.
Pals Beach has all kinds of facilities such as showers, public toilets, a tourist information post (Playa Gran) and parking. In turn, it has access for people with reduced mobility.
Around it there are many gastronomic offers and recreational activities.
Water sports and boat trips
If you are passionate about golf, in Playa de Pals and very close, a few kilometers away, in Torroella de Montgrí you will find 2 golf courses.
The golf course in Platja de Pals is located in the middle of the Arenals de Mar estate, on some dunes covered with enormous pine forests planted 70 years ago, designed by Baltasar Parera Vilar and his wife Rosa Coll Llach in the early 1960s.
They provided all the necessary land, as well as the construction of the first nine holes, the clubhouse and all the initial machinery for maintenance.
The Golf de Pals was the venue in 1972, with the dispute of the XLVI Spanish Open
Nearby there is a wide range of accommodation and restaurants.
World-renowned golf architect Robert von Hagge designed the two courses, Links and Forest, this being his first project on the Costa Brava and in Spain.
