British fine art photographer David Yarrow exhibits exclusive works at Engel & Völkers Headquarters in Hamburg

Christian Völkers and Sven Odia, CEOs of Engel & Völkers AG, have hosted an exclusive private art viewing together with David Yarrow, one of the world’s most successful fine art photographers, and Lars Beusker, owner of the 159.gallery. The evening presented the opportunity for some 200 invited guests from Hamburg’s high society to admire selected works in very limited editions by the artist. The photographs were also available for purchase. The total worth of the art works on display was almost one million euros.

“We are proud to welcome David Yarrow to Hamburg and especially to our company headquarters for this exclusive exhibition,” says Christian Völkers. The evening began with speeches by Mr. Völkers and gallery owner Lars Beusker. This was followed by a fascinating presentation by the artist himself, revealing the special ways in which he works, and how some of his photographs over the last 30 years came about. Alongside last editions of his most popular photographs, the photographer also brought along four exclusive world premieres which he shot just 48 hours before the event. There were some well-known personalities too among the art enthusiasts and prospective buyers on the guestlist, including fashion designer Stephan Eckert, Freiherr Martin von Jenisch, Harald und Ilka Boberg and Prinz John zu Sayn-Wittgenstein. “Nobody else portrays the beauty of our natural world quite like David Yarrow. He also does sterling work devoted to the preservation of the animal kingdom. We are therefore very pleased to have formed this partnership and are honoured to be able to show these works here in Hamburg,” says Sven Odia.

About the artist

David Yarrow was born in Glasgow in 1966. By the age of 20 he was working as a photographer for “The Times” in London. Assigned to the sidelines of the pitch at the World Cup Final in Mexico City, he took the famous picture of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup. Since then, David Yarrow has built an outstanding international reputation. Philanthropy and conservation are central to the artist’s work. In 2018, the revenue from sales of his works amounted to 11.58 million US dollars (some 10.4 million euros). In the same year, charitable donations from sales of his works exceeded 2.1 million US dollars (some 1.8 million euros). He is currently a part of the #KoalaComeback campaign, which has received worldwide support from such famous names as Chris Hemsworth, Leonardo DiCaprio and Cindy Crawford. Together with the non-profit organisation WildArk, David Yarrow is raising awareness for the situation in Australia and has set himself the target of raising 2 million US dollars in donations. David Yarrow is represented in Germany, Austria and the Balearic Islands by Lars Beusker and the 159.gallery.
