The district is characterized by Neguri mansions that, were built to house the cream of the bourgeoisie, still today, a residential area with luxury homes. Neguri´s name, was created by Resurrección María Azkue, former named Aretxetaurre. Neguri comes from the fusion of two Basque words: Negua and Hiri (winter and city respectively)
