The Golden Mile of Madrid Art

Recently, a new concept has hit Madrid. We are, of course, referring to Milla de Oro del Arte in the capital. This is an area that is quite well known and has experienced a shift towards the arts. It is now in a position to offer much more varied types of artworks both to residents and visitors.

This denomination has begun to be heard since the inauguration that occurred some weeks ago at Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques Hotel in the heart of Madrid. In particular, it occupies two emblematic buildings in the capital, which are the convent of Santo Domingo el Palacio de los Duques de Granada de Ega and Villahermosa.

The dukes who belonged to the palace were the best collectors of Velázquez to date, which is why this luxury hotel has decided to base its decoration on the work of one of the most authentic Spanish painters of all time. Everything revolves around him, from the hallway to TeART Time, an 'afternoon tea' that does not leave anyone indifferent.

But the Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques hotel goes much further and, therefore, it does not hesitate to publicise all kinds of art exhibitions. Proof of this is the 'Bulgari and Rome' collection from Thyssen-Bornemisza. Thanks to this exhibition, it is possible to enjoy 140 Italian artworks that are authentic historical gems.

However, the art does not remain hung on the walls. The person responsible for making the snacks is Jaime Villanueva, one of the most reputed chefs of the moment. His most famous creation is a three-storey jewelry box filled with chocolates that emulate the creations of the most prestigious Italian fashion brands. To all this, it is necessary to add a delicious menu of teas.

This enclave in the middle of the Golden Mile of Madrid (Milla de Oro de Madrid) offers a different project that will be available until 26th of February. That is the day the exhibition comes to an end and the Thyssen-Bornemisza artworks must be returned to their place of origin. However, you can rest easy as the organisers of the event have stated that it will be celebrated again throughout the year, although with different themes depending on the exhibition that is hosted.

In short, art has flooded the Golden Mile of Madrid (Milla de Oro de Madrid) thanks to the firm commitment of Gran Meliá Palacio de los Duques Hotel. This hotel was one of the most exclusive premises in the capital and for that matter, it should also be considered as a cultural venue.
