The most fashionable winter terraces in Madrid

Winter does not seem to be the most favourable season for outdoor living but it goes without saying that life in Madrid is not complete without paying an occasional visit to the terrace. This also includes the coldest season of the year, which can be experienced in a very pleasant way if you know how to choose the right place to go out and have a drink. Next, we will discuss some of the most famous winter terraces in the Spanish capital, all of which possess the necessary ingredients to justify going out in the middle of winter.

The first stop takes us to the increasingly busy Paseo de la Habana, very close to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and other top tourist attractions. Here, the MAD13 restaurant opens its doors and invites you to sample its leading culinary offer that is just as surprising as it is successful. Going to this place and eating on its terrace is a guarantee of enjoying an always lively atmosphere, whatever the time of year. The restaurant's secret? A very different menu to what we are used to and a polar wind-proof terrace design. It is fully glazed and boasts state-of-the-art heaters.

Lovers of the most traditional gastronomy have at their disposal another restaurant not far from the one we have just mentioned. On Doctor Fleming Street, in the neighbourhood of Nueva España one of the most famous Asturian cuisine restaurants can be found in Madrid - the Asgaya. One of its treasures, in addition to its renowned fabada, is the exquisite terrace that invites you to spend your enjoyable winter days on. Once again, its glazed structure and careful selection of materials, with wooden floors and ceilings stands out. Of course, the Asturian recipes are another powerful ally against the cold.
Now we go to the centre of Villa y Corte to enjoy one of the terraces that has recently become very popular; the alternative Escondite de Villanueva. This place, located on Villanueva Street in the Salamanca district, has a covered terrace that is small and cosy. Whilst you are there, it would not hurt to check out the restaurant or to make a reservation directly. It should be noted that the establishment can be considered a pioneer in the concept of 'non-stop' restaurant, which is now very fashionable in the Spanish capital.

To conclude, there is nothing better than two very different restaurants but that will make an excellent impression on fulfilling the needs of customers. The Kiosko del Florida Park is well known by the locals, who stop by to enjoy Retiro Park up close. This place is not only great to have a quick drink in, since its terrace also allows you to enjoy a wide variety of dishes. The second option is located at the other end of the city, in the district of Moncloa-Aravaca and, more specifically, in the emerging area of Valdemarín. The Galician Portonovo Restaurant, which also has a terrace with a varied menu is located in this area.
