What to do in Madrid during the month of April?

When we mention Madrid, we are in fact referring to a large city that's continuously moving forward. In addition to the attractions offered throughout the year that make the capital of Spain one of the most visited cities in Europe, Madrid presents a very wide range of activities every month of the year.

Without giving you an exhaustive list as it would be impossible to mention all the activities that are to be celebrated during the month of April, here are just some of those events that can be enjoyed in Madrid.

This year, April is the leading month of Easter. From Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday, thousands of people will fill the streets to watch and listen to the drumbeats and trumpets, colourful costumes from the guilds and make processions through emblematic places such as Paseo del Prado and Plaza Mayor.

It is typical in Madrid to celebrate Easter with holy music and there are many churches that offer concerts, such as the Basílica Pontificia de San Miguel (from March 31st to April 12th), and the Organ Music in San Ginés.

A very different type of music will be offered at the Festimad 2017, which will take place from April 19th to May 7th in a varied number of venues, with a very extensive performance line-up. For its part, the electronic music genre at La Casa Encendida is celebrated this year (March 30th to April 2nd). This will be its 15th edition with music mixes from all over the world.

Moving on to other unique events, there will be a beer fest taking place in Madrid during April, beginning with the Beer Fusion 2017 at the Cebada Market, (31st of March to 2nd of April). This event will be dedicated to home-brewed beers before ending with the second Cerveza Beerstalegre Fair, between March 30th and April 9th, which will combine beer tasting with performances from different musical bands at the Vistalegre Arena Palace.

Culture can not fail to contribute its grain of life to Madrid and it does so with a unique exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, with more than 60 works from the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. This exhibition will run until May 28th. A well-deserved tribute to the writer, Gloria Fuertes, at the Fernán Gómez Cultural Center of the Villa until May 14th as well as the exhibition "Oceános" at the Museum of Natural Sciences offer good prospects for the visitor.

Even Andalusia has a role in this agenda, with a small fair to celebrate on the 22nd of April, in an area that's beautifully decorated for the occasion, inside the WiZink Centre (the former Palacio de los Deportes).
