Engel & Völkers takes a stand for preserving the Mediterranean Sea and joined the Cleanwave movement which is aiming to eliminate all plastic bottles for daily use. The commitment to sustainable living and the unspoilt Mediterranean lifestyle come together so that everyone can enjoy their own Mediterranean pearl for decades to come.
Cleanwave was launched with the mission to provide an alternative to single use plastic water bottles. On the Balearic Islands, both locals and tourists have come to rely on plastic water bottles as their exclusive source of drinking water, because of the perception of the bad quality water in the taps – at the expense of the environment. Statistics show that beverage bottles is the most common found plastic waste found on beaches across the world. On the Balearic Islands alone 1,5 million bottles are disposed of every day!
The founders of Cleanwave believe that water should be free flowing and available to all, and that we have it in our power to create a different model, and take responsibility for how we purchase and how we dispose of our waste.
Through engaging in a social movement for change, both locals and visitors can visit over 80 water refill points across the islands, and refill their sustainable water bottles for free. As businesses, shops, restaurants and private individuals join the movement to preserve the Balearic Islands and its unique natural resources.
Engel & Völkers also rides the wave into a plastic free world together with Cleanwave and will fit their property shops on Mallorca with sustainable drinking water source and reusable eco-friendly bottles. With this effort thousands of plastic bottles will not enter the environment and many home owners plus future purchasers will experience modern and sustainable drinking water production.
The drinking water at the Engel & Völkers property shops is processed and purified by the innovative Agua KMZERO system. The company committed to environmental sustainability via specialized water treatment that converts tap water into drinking water of the highest quality. The process of analysis and multifiltration leaves water free of the substances that affect the smell and taste, additionally remineralising the water with magnesium and potassium which are beneficial for health and provide an extraordinary taste.
