A picture-perfect getaway in the north of Mallorca is the dream of many. A beautiful home under the Mediterranean sun to be enjoyed at any time of year and to spend quality time with those that really matter. Ponder this gorgeous country house that was once a watermill, which has loads of character and is in a very beautiful and highly private location, all just a short drive from old town Pollensa. Standing within the limits of the highly protected Tramuntana Mountain territory, awarded World Heritage status by UNESCO in 2011 as an area of great physical and cultural significance. The property has just come on the market exclusively for sale with Engel & Völkers Pollensa, it is one of those rare, truly rustic properties with a swimming pool as well as a totally independent, two bedroom guest house.

The north of the island is for those that want to find a retreat for the mind and soul, there is practically no bling and wealth is happily understated. The real wealth lying in the incredible landscapes, aquamarine waters and a medley of beaches and coves, striking craggy mountains and agricultural plains, old towns and villages and a strong sense of traditional. Imagine a sunny morning spent at a weekly market in Alcudia, coffee on the market square in Campanet, a beer with friends at the local chill out bar 5 Oceanos in Bon Aire, or a day out at the paradise beach of Formentor. There is so much variety for all age groups, cultural events and music festivals, sporting facilities, leisure opportunities and first class nautical facilities in both the Port of Pollensa and Alcudia, culinary delights and good local wines to try. There are some fantastic local festivals that are very well worth witnessing for example the battle of the Moros I Cristianos in Pollensa town on the 2nd of August and again in Pollensa the festival of Sant Antoni on the 16th and 17th of January, look them up and experience something very new to you and highly revered by the locals.
The good thing about the north of Mallorca you do not have to be busy running about and doing things all the time. It is THE PLACE to step back, slow down and to start to take a look around you again and really appreciate breath-taking views from the terrace of your new home, to potter in the garden and learn about plants unfamiliar to you, to sit and listen to the sea, to smell the pine trees, swim naked in a private cove, and really cherish the beauty of the island and to find and enjoy true tranquillity both inside and out. Don’t want to stress you but perhaps you have always wanted to learn a foreign language, how about making a start by learning Spanish or particularly Mallorquin with the locals, they for sure will be thrilled to hear a few familiar words from a Guiri (pronounced giri and meaning foreigner), be it simply Hola, buenos días (Hello good day) or Hola, com va (Majorcan hello, how are you?).
Having a second home in the sun is a privilege but not unattainable for the many, prices for apartments and town houses are in all price ranges and in the north of Mallorca none are too far from the beach. Town houses range from 160.000 to 2.000.000€ and include properties for immediate use and for reform. Apartments are most likely to be in the seaside towns and range in price from 135.000 to 2.000.000 Euros, advertised villas and country houses are in all sizes, condition and locations and naturally the price range is very wide, ranging from 225.000 to 10 million.
