Get to know the inland villages and towns in the north of Mallorca and buy a property

As well as the better known towns of Alcudia and Pollensa there are also several smaller and equally enchanting rural inland villages and towns in the north of Mallorca. Property prices in these locations are on the whole lower than in the better known areas, despite most of them still being close to the best beaches and the magnificent landscapes of the Serra Tramuntana Mountains. Especially Buger, Muro, Campanet and Santa Margalida are ideal locations for buying a property and are becoming more and more in demand among prospective real estate buyers wanting to invest in a home on the island. Buger is a delightful, rural village belonging to the municipality of the same name, actually the smallest municipality in the whole of Mallorca with less than 1100 residents. Advantages are its proximity to the main road network including the motorway with fast access to the beaches in Alcudia to the north and Palma de Mallorca and the international airport to the south. Buying a property in Buger is a very interesting option for those wishing for authentic Majorca with Mallorquin neighbours and a quiet, familiar atmosphere where everyone looks out for everyone. Campanet enjoys stunning countryside views from its elevated position, has a lively village square, a striking Baroque church and plenty of places to wine and dine. It is home to fascinating caves of Campanet, beautiful landscapes and the unique Fonts Ufanes or springs in the valley of Campanet (locally known as millionaire’s valley because of the luxury real estate and high worth property owners in the valley). The woodland springs are a magical, must see spectacle that is unique to Mallorca and is caused by underground cavities overfilling with water after a heavy rainfall. Buy a property in Muro and you get the best of both worlds, authentic Mallorca with all the necessary services that is still close to its famous 6km beach. Like most towns there is a weekly market and throughout the year traditional festivals. These include, for example, Sant Antoni, a festival celebrated in Muro in January, which focuses on the "Beneides", the blessing of the animals or the festivities of Sant Joan, with various activities and an open-air dinner.
