Since 1558 this property was home to the Grimón family and their descendants, among which were Tomas de Nava y Grimón, V Marques de Villanueva del Prado, founder of the Botanical Garden.
In 1866 it was sold to Alonso and Molina Ascanio Bazan, mayor of La Orotava. After the death of his sons (the engineer, filmmaker and writer Alfonso Ascanio y Poggio and his brother Felix, poet) the house was bought by Juan Guardis Doñate, mayor of La Orotava, and his wife, whom renovated it in 1957.
His children gave the house to the current owners in 1990.
The house is registered as a cultural asset and owns the permission to the guidance of a cultural hotel.
It has approximately 740 square meters of living space spread over two levels. On the ground floor is a large entrance area, the yard (aprox.106qm), 8 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and access to the garden and terrace. This plant needs reforms.
The top level is reached by a staircase made of canary tea pine.
