The castle was probably built on an ancient Roman or gothic fortification.
Of a pre-Roman origin, during the first half of the fourteenth century it’s verified in the Gothic castle expansion which almost erases all previous tracks and predominates.
Fortified building arranged around a central courtyard which highlights its square tower in the centre and its Gothic windows with an area of approximately 2,000 m².
The structure and walls are in very good state of conservation.
Parts of the walls are dated from the tenth century, and even retain many details in its interior, such as Gothic reliefs on the walls. Inside, needs total rehabilitation, depending on the use you want to give the castle. Its buildings, blocks, dungeons, cellars, rooms, halls, tower... offer multiple possibilities.
A total of 55.5 hectares surround the castle and are part of the property. With great natural value, the mountains and forests of the property, mostly pine and oak, and the surrounding lands are listed as hunting grounds. Of the full property approximately 30 acres are within the E.I.N of Alta Garrotxa.
