Vegueta - Triana: Location and surroundings of this property

This marvellous house is located in the heart of the city, the Calle Mayor de Triana, one of the most important shopping streets of the island. Its importance comes from the presence and proximity in the 18th century of the first port of Las Palmas just behind the Pérez Galdós Theatre, where English traders came, and many Spanish conquerors among them many Sevillians, who gave their name to the new neighbourhood and therefore to its most important street which would be the centre of the political and economic life of the city. 
Since the 1980s the street has been pedestrianised, but previously it was a fundamental communication route through the city, including trains and trams, which communicated the city with the historic quarter. 
At the beginning of the 19th century, modernist buildings and Canarian colonial architecture appeared where the wealthiest families of the city settled. In 1993 the district of Triana was declared a "Historic Site of Cultural Interest", the most important buildings around it are the Pérez Galdós Theatre, the Literary Cabinet, the Pérez Galdós Museum, the historic centre of Vegueta with the Cathedral of the Canary Islands, Plaza Mayor de Santa Ana, the Canarian and Columbus Museums, the Vegueta Market and other businesses, shops, pharmacies, schools and hospitals. From this street it is only 2 minutes
