The municipality of Las Rozas is located in the northwest of Madrid 19 km from the capital. Its area is between 5,883 and 5,914 hectares. Altitude: 718 meters. It borders with Torrelodones and Villanueva del Pardillo to the North, Galapagar to the West, Monte del Pardo (Madrid) to the East and to the South with Majadahonda. Las Rozas maintains a special relationship with this last municipality, sharing basic services, such as the Civil Guard Barracks, the Fire Station and the Red Cross Post, located on the road linking both towns.
Las Rozas is one of the suburbs with the highest per capita income in Spain. It has also experienced strong growth in its population, rising from about 35,137 inhabitants in 1991 to 89,151 registered on 1st January 2011.
Due to the strong growth of the population of Las Rozas in recent years, several shopping centers and leisure areas have been built. Areas, not only visited by young people from the town, but also by many young people from places near Las Rozas, as they are connected with buses close to them, taxi stops, a nearby train station and extensive parking areas.
In Las Rozas of Madrid there are 24 kindergartens (3 public and 21 private), 10 public primary and secondary schools, 4 secondary schools and 12 private schools (with and without public contribution).
