Cala Morell is a small natural bay in the district of Ciutadella in the north of Minorca. It is a cherished and symbolic place, especially for Ciutadella and for the fishermen who work along the west and north-west coast of Minorca it is an important point of shelter. In case of unexpected storms, this is one of the few havens in a long stretch of coastline with high cliffs lashed by the north wind: the Tramuntana. Another highlight is the curious fact that each side of the cove belongs to a different geological era and this is apparent to the eye even for a novice by the rock formations. This is unique to Minorca since the other Balearic islands belong to just one geological era. It has a small sandy beach and comfortable pontoons ideal for sunbathing. The seabed in the cove is half sand, half rock and shines for its crystal clear waters. From the cliffs surrounding the cove, even from very high, the clarity of the seabed can be observed. At one end of the cove there is an underwater cave in the rocks which is a source of drinking water and one of the loveliest aspects of Cala Morell. It can be reached by divers.
