Les Corts: Location and surroundings of this property

Between Diagonal Avenue, filled with shops, and soccer bustle of Camp Nou, Les Corts district unfolds as a garden Barcelona to discover and lose yourself in it, halfway between the rural past and the elegance of a residential neighborhood.
The District of Les Corts offers tranquility and elegance of uptown, at the same time that retains an air of popular and rural. Originally, between the 12th century and early nineteenth century, the territory where sits Les Corts was very deserted, with only some farmhouses agricultural spread here and there that were built around the torrents coming down of Collserola. Located to the West of the city, between the municipalities of Sants and Sarrià, it was a free territory that had no municipality, but depended directly on the royalty. That explains the construction, in the high part of the Royal Monastery of Pedralbes, ordered by King James the just in the 14th century, which offered it as a retreat to his wife Elisenda de Montcada, who wanted to found a monastery of poor Clares nuns, and located on land that belonged to the Les Corts Franqueses.
Then, in 1897 it was annexed to Barcelona, and began a progressive urbanization of the area. Today it is a district of transition between more affluent classes of the top and middle of the more traditional Barcelona classes, although there are still some remains of the rural period, as the House Can Roses, now converted into a library. What if conserves that rural origin, and perhaps its greatest appeal, are the parks and gardens that unfold in three neighbourhoods: Les Corts, Pedralbes and Sant Ramon-Maternitat.
