Cala Morell is a small natural bay in the district of Ciutadella in the north of Minorca. It is a cherished and symbolic place, especially for Ciutadella and for the fishermen who work along the west and north-west coast of Minorca it is an important point of shelter. In case of unexpected storms, this is one of the few havens in a long stretch of coastline with high cliffs lashed by the north wind: the Tramuntana. Another highlight is the curious fact that each side of the cove belongs to a different geological era and this is apparent to the eye even for a novice by the rock formations. This is unique to Minorca since the other Balearic islands belong to just one geological era. It has a small sandy beach and comfortable pontoons ideal for sunbathing.
