The old town of Alcudia, lies within an ancient old Moorish fort wall. The walls are not Roman, but there are remains of the Roman town of Pollentia just outside the walls, where there is also a Roman Amphitheatre, the smallest in Spain. The walled town is beautiful, with picturesque narrow streets decorated with potted plants and lined with interesting shops, packed with artisan produce. The walls themselves can be accessed by stairways in parts, with short walkways offering a bird’s eye view of the town and surrounding countryside down to the sea. Much of the town is pedestrianised, with hidden squares at the turn of a corner, boutique hotels and exquisite restaurants. North of the walled town is the bullring, although most fights are mock fights. Two weekly markets are held within the walls on Sundays and Tuesdays. Heading out of town towards the sea, the almost untouched natural coastline at Barcares and Manresa makes for perfect sunbathing and snorkeling, old fisherman’s cottages as a backdrop; equally perfect for a stunning sunset stroll with views across to Puerto Pollensa all the way. Close to the old town are the exclusive residential areas of Alcanada – with its famous golf course, Bonaire – with its quaint Port “Cocodrilo”, Coll Baix, Mal Pas and La Victoria
