Cala d'Or, the "golden bay", is a community of about 4,000
inhabitants in the Migjorn region, located just 60 kilometers
south of Palma. The nearest major city Santanyí is around 15
kilometers away. From the airport in Palma to Cala d‘Or
takes about an hour's drive to Cala d'Or. The rugged cliff
coast around Cala d'Or is broken by numerous small fines
and bays - there is something for every taste.If you stroll
through Cala d'Or, you will notice a clear difference to the
usual resorts of Mallorca: the buildings usually have only two
floors, everywhere the white washed facade captivates and
pinetrees line the streets. The cubic architecture and the entire
style of Cala d'Or reminds of Ibiza. There is always lively
entertainment in the summer months; in the off season Cala
d'Or is much quieter. In addition to a large pedestrian area
with numerous shops and restaurants, which run through the
city, there is also a so-called "old district". This is close to the
pedestrian area - but still wonderful quiet and is dominated
by Ibizan houses. The exclusive marina, with almost 600
moorings, is one of the larger and more luxurious marinas
and offers a wide range of bars and restaurants. Here you
should spend your time especially in the evening and enjoy
the beautiful sunset.
