Torrevieja is a coastal town and municipality to the south of the province of Alicante, within the region of the Vega Baja. It is located in a place of high ecological and scenic value on the shores of the Mediterranean and next to the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja, one of the most important wetlands of the Valencian Community and one of the most important salt mines in Europe.
The municipality of Torrevieja is bordered by that of Guardamar del Segura by the north, by Orihuela by the south, and by Los Montesinos, Rojales and San Miguel de Salinas by the interior.
It has 20 km of coastline: from Playa de la Mata to Punta Prima there are numerous rocky coves and wide beaches, 13 in total. Of particular note are the beaches of La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequión or Los Náufragos.
