The "Cigarrales", whose origin dates from the mid fifteenth century, is the name given to the old country houses on the other side of the river Tagus, used by the highest nobility of Toledo as recreational houses since time immemorial, which allowed them to leave the warm city especially in summer.
There are many constructions that throughout history have been called this way in the area of Bastida and the Toledo Valley.
Nowadays, many of the Historical Cigarrals have been converted into hotels and restaurants, although some of them remain private and still preserve the essence of this traditional Toledan house. Therefore, few of them still preserve their original design and structure, and conform to the canons established by the scholars for these singular estates.
Our magnificent Cigarral is located on the Navalpino road, between Calle Bosque and Callejón de la Bastida, in the area of the Historical Cigarrales, bordering among others Cigarral El Bosque hotel and the Cigarral Hierbabuena, less than 1 kilometre from the bridge of San Martín -which gives access to the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes and the Jewish Quarter.
Toledo is the capital of the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage City, city of the three cultures -Jewish, Christian and Muslim-, located 70 kilometres from Madrid by motorway and motorway, 50 minutes by car from Madrid-Barajas airport and 25 minutes by AVE from Madrid-Atocha Station.
