La Cuesta is the largest populated area in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. It is located to the southeast of the city, at an average altitude of 350 metres above sea level and 3.6 kilometres from the historic centre of the municipality. In 1869 it began as a small hamlet at a crossroads, but today it is a population centre with around 30,000 inhabitants. It has multiple services, transport, schools, colleges, institutes and university faculties, as well as a very important commercial fabric.
