SOLD. In 1496, Juan Alonso Serrano gave over the then called Cerro de Buena Vista and a house that had belonged to an Arab noble man to two hermits called Brother Antonio and Brother Marco on behalf of the Catholic Monarchs. The hermitage that they founded there, received the name of San Anton, in honour of the saint that venerates hermits.
Over several centuries, residents such as priests and noble families have lived in Hacienda de San Antón. It served as a watch tower, hermit, chapel, house, school and hospital. This sought-after place changed of ownership a number of times due to the beauty of the place and its privileged position. The Hacienda de San Antón is a grand house that has survived to this day in excellent condition.
Many different elements make of this property a unique place, but the hermit is without a doubt the one granting greatest singularity. The little atrium with its poor box leads to the one single nave chapel with one main and two side altars. The atrium also gives access to a small room via a staircase that serves as a choir and belfry.
Another really charming place is the symmetrical patio around which the house is planned. Dominated by cypresses, its walls boast commemorative plaques that bear witness to its history. In one corner, the water flowing from the old stone fountain offers the best soundtrack to this beautiful setting. From the Mudejar-inspired arches of the towers, we can enjoy breathtaking views of Malaga. A stroll through the centuries-old gardens makes us aware of the setting whose beauty has been forged over centuries.
