Embajadores: Location and surroundings of this property

The Lavapiés neighbourhood has more than 500 years of history and was originally the heart of the city’s Jewish residents. Some historians attribute the unique name of the area to the Jewish ritual washing of the feet before prayer. In the Plaza de Lavapiés there was once a public fountain for the express purpose of performing this ritual before attending synagogue. However, after the expulsion of the Jews, the synagogue was razed and the San Lorenzo church was constructed in its place.
This area of central Madrid is dynamic and growing in popularity thanks to the cultural diversity and wide range of cultural events. The spirit of this vibrant neighbourhood is both bohemian and cosmopolitan with restaurants of different ethnic cuisines and unique small businesses.
Here one has excellent access to all kinds of public transport. The nearby Embajadores train station provides access to two metro lines as well as the regional rail system.
