Moreover, due to the celebration of these games has been carried out the construction of new facilities that will be the scene of various sporting events such as the Mediterranean Ring, one of the epicenters of the Games, or the new Athletics track, both located in Tarragona, or the new nautical base of Salou. To make these projects a reality, some sports facilities existing in the area have been renovated, but also the construction of new sports facilities.
The XVIII Mediterranean Games are not only an event of social transformation and international projection, but also the possibility of being something more than a sporting event: a point of union, solidarity and harmony in the Mediterranean. The Tarragona 2017 Foundation and the Red Cross have agreed to work together to promote the values of sport and solidarity, focusing on the forced migratory events through different awareness actions around the Mediterranean Games.
