Caribbean & Bahamas Yacht Charter

Some of the world’s greatest yachting playgrounds, a crewed motor yacht charter in the Caribbean and Bahamas through Engels & Völkers Yachting will make your holiday dreams come true.

Each winter, luxury sail and motor yachts are drawn to these tropical shores so their guests can indulge in an almost make-believe life of swimming ashore to desert islands, fine dining in colonial plantation hotels, and diving with turtles on vibrant coral reefs.

Whether you’re drawn by the swirling blue and white sandbars of the Bahamas, the French-Caribbean glamour of the Leeward Islands, or the lush, volcanic grandeur of the Windward Islands, every day spent sailing the Bahamas or the Caribbean on yacht charter is full of adventure and beauty in equal measure.

Here are three sample charter itineraries of what you might experience on a Bahamas or Caribbean yacht charter through Engels & Völkers Yachting.

Bahamas Yacht Charter

- Crewed Motor & Sailing Yacht Charter Bahamas

Cruising through the Bahamas on a crewed motor yacht charter is a dream come true, as you drop anchor off blinding white sand beaches and dive off the yacht into water of an almost shocking blue. Settle into Bahamian life as you feed the famous swimming pigs, swim with gentle nurse sharks, and finish each day with a cocktail under the fiery setting sun.

Join your superyacht at Nassau’s Paradise Island at midday, and sit down for an elegant lunch on deck as the yacht cruises to your first stop, Harbour Island. Known as the ‘St Barts of the Bahamas’, this dreamy little island is famous for horses running along pink sand beaches and its picture-perfect setting of white colonial cottages, bright pink bougainvillaea and waving coconut palms. Drinks are on the waterfront terrace at Sip Sip, before dining in style at the plantation hotel, The Landing.

Another day in paradise awaits when the Captain takes the yacht across to Eleuthera for a day of diving adventures and lazing about on perfect pink sands. One of the best dives in the world is found at the Devil’s Backbone at Spanish Wells, while the adventurous can ride the underwater rapids at Current Cut, or enjoy superb sportfishing offshore. After tiring yourself out with water sports, dinner is at anchor in a peaceful bay, surrounded by moonlit sea.

After a long breakfast and a swim, your charter yacht will move to Eleuthera's spectacular Glass Window, where the dark blue waters of the Atlantic are separated from the duck-egg blue Caribbean Sea by a narrow rock causeway. The yacht will then get underway for Highbourne Cay, the gateway to the Exumas. Sunset drinks are on the sundeck by the Jacuzzi, before heading ashore for a great seafood meal at Xuma.

You’ll wake up at Allen Cay, where you’ll jump in the tender and go ashore to feed grapes to the famously friendly Bahamian Rock Iguanas. Then it’s back on the yacht to cruise into the absolutely breathtaking Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, where you’ll drop anchor at Shroud Cay. Spend the afternoon practicing your bonefishing or kayaking up the mangrove canal, before enjoying a luxury beach barbeque you’ll never forget on the pure white sands.

Start the day with a snorkel above a wrecked smuggler’s plane at Norman’s Cay, before swimming with nurse sharks at Compass Cay Marina. But save some energy for later, as the yacht will then move on to Warderick Wells, where a huge sperm whale skeleton rests on the beach and an old pirate’s lair will fire up the kid’s imaginations. There are some great walking trails on the island past blowholes and the old loyalist plantation - and it’s practically compulsory to climb BooBoo Hill. Dinner is at anchor in this quiet, pristine place.

Get your cameras ready, for you’re in for a real treat today. At Pig Beach on Big Major Island, adorable wild pigs swim out to your yacht in the hope of being fed, their pink trotters paddling frantically through the crystal clear water. One of the great wildlife sights of the world, this is one not to be missed. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Thunderball Grotto, made famous by the James Bond film 'Thunderball', or dive the caves at Rocky Dundas. Dinner is ashore at Staniel Cay Yacht Club.

After a leisurely breakfast and swim, your charter will end where it began at Paradise Island, Nassau. However, you may want to stay on a day or two to enjoy Nassau’s premium golf courses and celebrity-chef restaurants!

Caribbean Leeward Islands Yacht Charter

- Crewed Motor & Sailing Yacht Charter Caribbean Leeward Islands

A Leeward Islands yacht charter offers a little bit of everything, from the French-Caribbean glamour of St Barts to the beautiful cloud forests of St Kitts & Nevis. One of the great yachting playgrounds of the world, the Leeward Islands charm with their desert island beaches and luxury spa hotels.

Join your yacht at midday in St Martin, one of the great yachting centres of the Caribbean. Cruise out of Simpson’s Bay and head around to pretty Marigot on the French side of the island to visit a beach club and shop the boutiques. Alternatively, stay on the Dutch side for some serious duty-free shopping and finish the day at the laid-back Sunset Bar, where jumbo jets tear in over the beach to land at St Martin's international airport.

When you wake, the yacht will be underway for Anguilla, a blissful little island that just oozes laid-back glamour. A favourite celebrity hide-out, this is St Barts without the showiness. Take a walk along the soft white sands, swim in the sapphire sea, and laze about in a hammock, enjoying the view of coconut palms and brightly painted beach bars. Finish the afternoon with a heavenly massage at the Four Seasons Spa, before dining in the treetops at Veya.

We hope you got your beauty sleep last night, for today you’ll arrive in style on the ultra-chic island of St Barts. Step ashore to shop the haute couture boutiques, before spending a blissful beachy afternoon at celebrity favourite, Baie de Saint-Jean, or swimming at Grand Cul-de-Sac, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Dress up for drinks on your yacht at sunset, before heading ashore to one of St Barts magnificent restaurants, perhaps L’Esprit Jean Claude Dufour. Alternatively, spend your whole day and night mingling with the jet set at Nikki Beach.

Sleep late as the yacht moves to Antigua, a gentle green island famous for its sailing scene and having a different beach for every day of the year. Dock at English Harbour and take a wander around the quaint and historic Nelson’s Dockyard, before setting off on your yacht to find a pristine cove to call your very own for the afternoon. There are luxury hotels hidden all along the coast, so you may want to go ashore for a massage at a spa before taking a sunset walk along the beach, coconuts washing up on the shore.

Fall into a dream on the tranquil island of Barbuda, where turquoise lagoons and coral reef encircle perfect white beaches, and mysterious shipwrecks lie on the seabed. This is a day to forget the world exists as your feet sink into deep, soft sand and seabirds wheel in the skies above. If there’s a more perfect place for a luxury beach barbeque at sunset, we don’t know where it is.

Today brings something very different, as you cruise on to the twin islands of St Kitts & Nevis. Now a superyacht hotspot due to the new luxury marina at Christophe Harbour, these lush volcanic islands offer a gorgeous mix of pretty beaches, old plantation hotels and British forts, and monkeys chattering in the cloud forest. After a day of exploring, enjoy your last dinner on charter at the historic Ottley's Plantation Inn.

Enjoy the morning cruise back to St Martin, where your charter will end at midday. If you didn’t get the chance to do some duty-free shopping before your charter began, now’s your chance!

Caribbean Windward Islands Yacht Charter

- Crewed Motor & Sailing Yacht Charter Caribbean Windward Islands

As you venture deeper south in the Caribbean into the lush Windward Islands, volcanoes rise above sugar-white beaches, and coconut palms bend low over vivid turquoise seas. Quieter and less developed than the Leeward Islands but with some very exclusive enclaves, the Windward Islands are a place to breathe in the scent of frangipani, dive off the swim platform…and relax.

Begin your yacht charter on St Lucia, where the twin peaks of the Pitons fall away into crystal clear sea, creating one of the most dramatic backdrops in the yachting world. Spend an afternoon hiking to jungle waterfalls, lazing about on a hammock, or snorkelling the volcanic coral reef before enjoying an elegant dinner on deck, looking out across the mighty Pitons as they fade into the Caribbean night.

Known as ‘the Island in the Clouds’, Bequia is a green and hilly island blessed with soft white sand beaches lapped by sapphire seas. Spend a relaxing day on Bequia anchoring off the sublime beach in Friendship Bay, visiting the baby hawksbill turtles at the sanctuary, and strolling through the pretty harbour at Port Elizabeth. Have a rum punch at a beach shack at sunset, and dine up in the hills at the exotic Firefly Plantation.

A haven of the celebrity set, this tranquil, exclusive little paradise has been luring the A-list for decades with its magical combination of white sand beaches, waving palms, and swanky boutiques. After a day of beach bliss, head to Basil’s Bar for sunset drinks and live jazz, before dressing up to head to The Cotton House for a fine dining experience.

After the day of glamour and indulgence on Mustique, it’s time to step back in time on the tiny island of Mayreau, where goats and chickens wander along picture-perfect beaches. Drop anchor in the dazzling blue waters of Salt Whistle Bay, and spend a heavenly day wandering the beaches, diving the coral gardens, and getting busy on the water toys. Dinner is at anchor, feeling as relaxed as you remember being in a long, long time.

The Tobago Cays are famous for their dreamy lagoons and underwater scenery, with shipwrecks, sea turtles, and huge schools of tropical fish swimming above the coral reefs. The Tobago Cays are a Marine Park made up of five uninhabited islands, with desert island beaches and coconut palms edged by sapphire water of dazzling clarity.

Sandy Island is a little piece of paradise, just off Carriacou, which is known for its impressive marine life and gorgeous beaches. Spend a long, sunny day here snorkelling the reef and playing on the water toys, and ask the yacht chef to make you up a luxury hamper with a bottle of Champagne for an unforgettable beach picnic lunch. In the afternoon, head across to Carriacou to explore the local jewellery boutiques.

Your charter will end on the famed Spice Island of Grenada, where towering waterfalls thunder through the jungle and spice markets are a riot of Caribbean colour. Grenada also offers some great beaches with tiki bars to enjoy the last moments of your yachting vacation, as well as some surreal diving at the fantastic Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park. You may want to hang around on Grenada a few more days!
