Area guide for Battersea
Battersea, a sought-after area in the London Borough of Wandsworth in South West London, is home to a vibrant mix of established residents, new families and young professionals.
Battersea has a real sense of community to it, with the small-town feel of the area being one of the major reasons why local residents feel so passionately about where they live. It has many active community groups, including the Battersea Power Station Community Group and The Battersea Society.
The area is well known for the glorious Battersea Park, which offers a peaceful escape from urban life. This combined with the attractive housing stock and excellent schools. It has quickly become one of London’s most desirable address.
It is made up of smart shops and boutique cafes as well big brand names; however it does not have a high street as such. Instead, the great lure is the close proximity to Chelsea and the renowned King’s Road, a short walk over the Thames across London’s prettiest bridge, Albert Bridge.
The extreme redevelopment of the area around Battersea Power Station and the new American Embassy will not only make Nine Elms as smart an address as the Park district but will also bring a new tube station, with the Northern Line opening in circa 2020 and numerous sophisticated bars and restaurants. It is set to transform that side of Battersea into a ultra-stylish and contemporary location.
