Christian Völkers, the CEO and Founder of Engel & Völkers AG, hosted a private polo tournament on Majorca from 29 to 31 July 2016. The event was held on the property entrepreneur’s estate in Port d’es Canonge on Majorca’s southwest coast. The international guest list included the German singer Vicky Leandros, Carl-Eugen Erbprinz zu Oettingen-Wallerstein with his wife Anna, Hieronymus Graf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht with his wife Marynic, Anna Herzogin in Bayern with her husband Andreas Freiherr von Maltzan, Oliver von Boch-Galhau with his wife Dina, Bolko Kissling and Constantin Freiherr von Dalwigk with his wife Caroline. Also in attendance were architect and designer Antonio Obrador Vidal, Pablo Carrington, the painter Natasha Zupan, Fabien Pictet, and Rupert Adams with his wife Nadja Swarovski. “Renovation work on my property has meant that this year’s annual polo tournament was held on a smaller scale. Next year we are planning an Engel & Völkers Polo Cup once again, as in past years,” said Christian Völkers.
The tournament was played out against the beautiful backdrop of the Majorcan countryside, overlooking vineyards and the Mediterranean. Six high-profile teams of three players competed against one another over three tournament days. The players who took part hailed from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, England and Germany. The host Christian Völkers also climbed into the saddle for all three days of play. Top players on the international circuit included Santos Anca, Gastón Maiquez and Bautista Bayugar. The Engel & Völkers team emerged as the winners of the polo tournament in the final held on Sunday.
An Argentine asado and dinner party round off proceedings
The sporting occasion did not end with the blow of the final whistle. On Friday evening, guests socialised in this Mediterranean setting as they enjoyed an Argentine asado and wine homegrown on the estate. Then on Saturday evening, Christian Völkers welcomed them to an exclusive dinner party.
