It’s that time again: The end of August marks the release of the latest issue of the exclusive Engel & Völkers GG Magazine. In time for summer, the current issue is dedicated entirely to the topic of travel. We visit the most extraordinary destinations in the world and try to find out why experiences make us happier in the long run than material possessions.
Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. You’ve probably heard those wise words before. They could have come from psychology professor Thomas Gilovich, whoscientifically proved in a 20-year study at Cornell that the joy we gain from material possessions doesn’t last as long as the satisfaction we get from investing in a special experience. This trend can be observed most clearly among Millennials (people who were born roughly between 1980 and 2000), and it’s one of the reasons we have dedicated this issue entirely to travel. In addition to sharing our personal selection of exceptional destinations, we feature some of the extraordinary personalities who have devoted their lives to creating unforgettable experiences and memories for their clients or guests.
