We are in early July, when the first hot summer becomes more intense, without ever being suffocating and humid. The climate is around 25 degrees, the ideal temperature to attract the first tourists eager to escape from towns and breathe again.
There is the noise of nature. The sun is high in the sky and warms the skin. Imagine an opportunity like a vintage car tour and the chance to visit the Dolomites, only for a weekend. Cortina, is one of the most famous Italian tourist sites. Whether in winter or summer, it does not matter, because Cortina shines in any season, that’s why it’s been labelled the"Pearl of the Dolomites".
With the wind in the hair, the rays of sunshine on our face and a breathtaking landscape, we drop on board. After being comfortable and lighting the engine of our car, we are ready to start our trip.
The starting point is Cortina, then we move towards Misurina and the Three Peaks, and we’ll finish the tour through the Giau Pass.
The race starts in Corso Italia. It is 8.30 am and we are in the most famous town of the Dolomites. The summer has stained the mountains and the Ampezzo valley of its finest nuances. We spend the ride in the car with the head turned up and the nose stuck to the window, desperately trying not to lose even one centimeter of that vision. We enjoy the rays of sunshine that filter through the leaves, every high peak and all the clouds caressing the sky. With equally curiosity we try to impress every memory and perfume of that day. Cortina is the perfect place to relax, discover the countryside scenery and enjoy the mild climate.
Misurina and the Three Peaks of Lavaredo:
It is 11 am and we begin to feel a slight appetite. We decide to stop for an Aperitivo along the famous Lake Misurina. In front of us there is the Pius XII institute, located at 1780 mt. The structure is unique in Europe for the treatment and rehabilitation of infantile asthma in highaltitude. Behaind us, the Three Peaks of Lavaredo stand out, in all their fame and majesty. We continue our journey because we want to admire the Three Peakseven more closely. Along the verdant Cadini of Misurina and along the high-altitude car paths we have the privilege of seeing nature in all its beauty.
Passing through South Tyrol, we dedicate the last stop at the Giau Pass. We stop at the renowned "Da Aurelio" restaurant where thanks to the mastery of the chefs we taste delicious dishes. On the terrace, we enjoy the magnificent views of Averau, Sella and Marmolada mountains. We spend the night under the clear sky in one of the two suites at “DaAurelio”.
The next morning, we go back to our apartment in Cortina, dreaming that this vacation never ends.
