The tradition is renewing, in our city, on Sunday, April 17th: the usual appointment in which athletes face the challenge of 42 km or 21 km (with the half marathon) comes back and all citizens of Padua and province have the opportunity to spend a special Sunday, participating in the runs of 10 – 5 - 1 km and in the 10 Km Challenge. Arrived at its seventeenth edition, the Marathon is a distinctive event not to be missed for the city of Padua; an opportunity for interaction where sports, folklore, music and entertainment join together. From this year the marathon will move into an area never touched before and certainly offering emotional appeal to runners. The race runs through the most beautiful part of the city, touching Piazza dei Signori, Piazza della Frutta, passing beside the Caffé Pedrocchi, Palazzo del Bo and in front of St. Anthony's Basilica, the symbol of Christianity, until concluding in overtime scenery offered by Prato della Valle. Anyone has taken part there can only confirm : it is difficult to hold the emotion, when near the finish line Prato della Valle opens wide in all its glory. But it is not only the final stretch of the route of the Marathon of Padua to make the race unique: it’s throughout the entire territory that is the background of the event.
Also this year “Expo”, a showcase of the Marathon, will be set up in Prato della Valle: anexhibition area of about 1500 square meters dedicated entirely to the world ofrunning and sports in general. A unique opportunity for companies, sponsors andinstitutions. In fact, thanks to the wide range of products and servicesoffered, the exhibition area records every year a large influx of people - about250,000 presences among runners fans and visitors in the previous edition -.
