Cuccaro is located in Monferrato, on gentle slopes that offer beautiful views of the Ligurian Apennines on one side and the Piedmontese Alps on the other. The history of the town is closely linked to the Colombo family, which was given the fief of Cuccaro by Emperor Otto I in 960. In the Parish Church, built by the Colombo family in 1676, you can admire valuable frescoes by Maggi, Arneri and paintings by Guala from Moncalvo. In the months of June and July also the lands of Monferrato are tinged with the intense purple colors of the wonderful and fragrant lavender plants. For some years now, travelers in search of the enveloping colors and characteristic landscapes that have made French Provence famous in the world, can easily find magical landscapes even in the lands of Piedmont. Here, in addition to lavender, two Big Benches have been positioned on the panoramic road that connects the two villages of Cuccaro and Lu. The giant colored benches overlook the landscapes of Piedmont, offering breathtaking views. The idea was born from the American, artist and designer, Chris Bangle. Cuccaro can be reached from both Casale M.to and Alessandria in 20 minutes, an just over an hour from Turin and Milan. Nearby there is also the prestigious Margara Golf Club, with 18 holes available for lovers of this ancient game.
