Feriolo: Location and surroundings of this property

Walking along the coast road that leads from Baveno to the small village of Feriolo, in the Borromean Gulf, you will see the bright colours of the houses lined up along the shore, with the picturesque boats moored along the Lake. Feriolo lakeside is perhaps one of the most characteristic on Lago Maggiore: beaches, rustic old dwellings and balconies offer a one-of-a-kind panorama in the evening, when the Lake waters reflect the light of the many street lamps that dot the lake promenade. Today Feriolo is an important tourist centre, with numerous small and typical restaurants facing the Lake, however its origin is very old. Several archaeological finds dating back to the prehistoric age were found in this area. The ancient castle ruins, on the promontory in front of the village, leave no doubt about the strategic importance of this site during Roman times, as a transit station for troops heading for Alpine passes.
