What you should know about this house

Amenities and special features of this house

The Castello di Susans was built in the shape and architectural structure chosen in 1636 by Count Fabrizio di Colloredo, who was raised and educated in Tuscany at the court of Ferdinand I. The Count decided to build a beautiful Medici-type residence upon previous medieval ruins. This "Tuscan villa" was thus built to give prestige to one of the most enchanting parts of Friuli. The noble family of Colloredo lived in the castle up until the end of World War I, and for over three centuries.
The earthquake of 1976 caused a great deal of damage to the complex that was however saved from an irreparable collapse only thanks to its shape and the thickness of its structure. The rectangular layout, strengthened at the corners by the four towers, resulted as being particularly earthquake resistant. Restored to its original splendour, it now houses inside large spaces and has rooms of various sizes, all of them with furniture, paintings and prints, which make it the perfect venue for prestigious gatherings, such as weddings, banquets, conferences and conventions.

Grado-Lignano: Location and surroundings of this property

The hills of Friuli are the ideal destination for slow tourists: its castles and villages are among the most beautiful ones in Italy, beautiful landscapes on the morainic hills, history, and cultural events. Cycling or riding excursions, golf, fishing and bird-watching can be alternated with cultural visits to museums devoted to the history and the territory, to frescoed churches and historic villas.
