What you should know about this house

Amenities and special features of this house

An ancient manor Dammuso, set on the hill of San Francesco, overlooking the sea from the terrace.
Without upsetting anything and, therefore, respecting the history of the property itself, the interiors have been adapted to the needs of the modern era.
At the entrance, we immediately enter the bright "masonry" kitchen, equipped with every comfort, we then pass through a corridor, first into a small but cosy sitting room with sofa and TV, and then into a dining room with a precious inlaid wooden table.
Passing through a bright corridor with large glass walls, we enter the second wing of the building where there are wall cupboards, a second double bedroom and a complete bathroom. Finally, we come to a third bedroom, which currently includes a double bed, a single bed, and a small sink/kitchenette. A mini-apartment from the Milan of the '70s (like in the movie "Poveri ma ricchi", where Renato Pozzetto lived). Obviously, the room lends itself to many furnishing solutions.
Floors with antique majolica tiles, built "made to measure" by the Master Ceramists of “Vietri Sul Mare”, and interiors furnished with a "refined" style: it all gives this Dammuso the name of "Charming House". It is also characterized by being one of the Historical Dammusi of the Island, with an important surface of around 350 sqm.
In all the rooms you can admire the barrel vaults, royal and lunette vaults and the casene, niches carved in the thick walls with different utilities.
Throughout the house, there are many particular objects that immediately catch your eye: the kitchen table made with the feet of an old Singer sewing machine, a "stradera" (old brass scale) used at the fish market and converted into a chandelier, antique wooden furniture, suggestive relics of distant travels.
The only rooms that have been renovated are the bathrooms. The electrical and plumbing system has also been modified.
The Dammuso is in a perfect state of maintenance and does not need any finishing touches.
The rooms are bright and functional. The outdoor spaces are large and equipped with many concrete seats covered in "majolica" where there are many shells in raw canvas, so you can fully enjoy your days on the island.
Located in a quiet area, but still close to the centre of Pantelleria, reachable in less than 5 minutes by car.

Pantelleria: Location and surroundings of this property

Pantelleria is a Sicilian island located in the center of the Strait of Sicily commonly known as "The Black Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea". The geographical position and the richness of the territory have played a fundamental role in its history: they gave it an immense heritage of biodiversity but also a welcoming place for the peoples of the Mediterranean, as evidenced by the presence of numerous archaeological areas on the island.
The Island is architecturally characterized by the presence of the Dammusi, ancient typical buildings made up of thick walls in lava stone and a domed roof. Outside the residential areas, it is the only type of housing on the island and the most exclusive kind of location for tourist stays.
Among the wonders of Pantelleria they deserve to be mentioned:
- The Lake Mirror of Venus, so called because it is said the Goddess Venus used to mirror there before meeting Bacchus. It is a natural lake filling the crater of a volcano. In addition to the fantastic scenery of flora and fauna, by which it is surrounded, the lake is even more famous for its thermal mud, and it is also suitable for birdwatchers.
- The Castle of Pantelleria, a medieval monument in lava stone used as a prison until 1975, has been used as a museum of the most important archaeological finds (including the famous Imperial Heads), since 2015.
- Balata dei Turchi, one of the most fascinating places on the island. It is a bay with seabed and a ridge with enchanting colors; it is said that it was once a natural stopover used by pirates.
With its varied and evocative landscapes and the thousand possible activities to make, Pantelleria is the right place for those looking for sun, wind, quietness, sea, open-air thermal springs, history and good food.
