Langhirano-Lesignano: Location and surroundings of this property

Torrechiara is a fraction of Langhirano, in the province of Parma, a town just 5 km from the capital and owes its name to the ancient presence of numerous presses for squeezing oil, produced with the fruits of the olive groves that at the time extended on the surrounding hills. The castle with the small medieval village is located on the top of a terraced hill, which rises on the left bank of Val Parma; thanks to its strategic position in medieval times, the manor dominates the entire valley which stretches towards the south and the plain which extends to the north. Originally built in medieval times but destroyed several times between the 13th and 14th centuries, the castle was majestically rebuilt between 1448 and 1460 by order of Pier Maria II de 'Rossi, with the dual function of a mighty defensive structure and elegant nest of love for the count and the lover Bianca Pellegrini; inherited by Guido de 'Rossi in 1482, it was conquered the following year by Ludovico il Moro, who maintained it until 1499. Considered one of the most remarkable, scenographic and best preserved in Italy, the castle inside preserves numerous frescoed rooms in Renaissance style by Cesare Baglioni, in addition to the Golden Room, the only example in Italy of an entire cycle of medieval paintings focused on the glorification of courtly love between two characters who really existed. The castle is home to numerous annual events. Among these, in the months of July and August the Torrechiara Festival "Renata Tebaldi", a festival with a musical character that attracts important Italian and foreign artists every time.
