Cles is the main town of the Val di Non, important fruit farm center, framed by the artificial lake of Santa Giustina, by the ancient Cles Castel and by the Brenta Dolomites, as well as commercial and industrial center among the most important in Trentino. In addition to the archeological finds, that date back to neolithic and to the Bronze Age, the Tavola Clesiana is of particular interest, an edict of citizenship of the Roman era (46 AD), whose faithful reproduction is located in the square in front of Palazzo Assessorile. Cles owes its greatness to Bernardo Clesio, prince-bishop of Trento and cardinal from 1530, author of the Council of Trento, one of the greatest political religious personalities between the 15th and the 16th century in Europe.
Cles is the most important crossing point and hub not only of Val di Non but also of Val di Sole and it is considered as the main tourist center of the area thanks to the vicinity of tourist destinations like Madonna di Campiglio, Folgarida e Marilleva.
