The complex is located in the municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle, in the locality of Pastine, in the immediate vicinity of the main services. Just 4 km away is the beautiful medieval town of Barberino Val d'Elsa and only 6 km away is the town of Poggibonsi and the highway that connects Florence with Siena. Pastine is located on one of the connecting roads between the Via Cassia and the Via Francigena. In front of the building, there is a beautiful church. The first testimony on the church is found in an act of the Badia a Passignano of April 1123 where it appears that the prior of Ponzano gives to the abbey some land located in the people of the chapel of Pastine, suffragan of the parish of Sant'Appiano. The people of Pastine belonged to the district of Semifonte and in this regard, it appears that on 7 April 1202 the 18 heads of the families of Pastine swore allegiance to Florence. On 15 August 1260, Zerbino Iacopi in the name of the people promised 18 bushels of wheat for the maintenance of the Florentine army engaged in Montalcino. Shortly after, following the battle of Montaperti, the church and the village of Pastine were sacked by the Ghibelline troops who roamed the Valdelsa. From 1548 onwards, the church was under the patronage of the Serragli, whose coat of arms still appears on the facade.
