The Municipality of Arcisate, as documented by numerous testimonies, has very ancient origins and has always played an important social and cultural role in the Valceresio. Probably of Celtic origin, as documented by accurate philological studies on the name, it is certainly certain that Arcisate already existed in Roman times, as shown by the discovery of tombs, tombstones, coins and objects, which attest to the Roman settlement in our territory. Artistic monuments of great interest, such as the Baptistery, the Basilica and the Lazzaretto itself, testify to a past of undoubted historical value, animated by the industriousness that has always distinguished the population of Archipelago.
