Govone: Location and surroundings of this property

At 300 meters above sea level, located between Monferrato Astigiano and Langhe, Govone is a splendid town in the land of Roero, whose historic center is gathered around the homonymous Castle, a medieval stronghold rebuilt in the eighteenth century, a majestic Savoy residence immersed in its majestic park. The Castle, which dominates Govone and has always been the center around which the entire life of the town revolves, was built before the year one thousand on the highest hill, then rebuilt starting from the seventeenth century for the Solaro counts, on the drawings by the architects Guarino Guarini, Filippo Juvarra and Benedetto Alfieri. On the death of the last Count Solaro in 1792, the Castle passed to the Savoy Crown. It was restored in the 1820s, becoming the summer residence of the King of Sardinia; today it appears among the Savoy residences that the Unesco has included in the world artistic heritage and is a destination for visitors who are also attracted by the beauty of the monumental staircase full of reliefs and telamons that come from the gardens of Venaria Reale. The Roero, areas of hills, towns and ancient villages perched on the heights, vineyards and great gastronomic traditions, rises on the left side of the Tanaro, and takes its name from the ancient family that ruled the small fiefdom for centuries.
