Sinalunga: Location and surroundings of this property

The farmhouse is located close to the small village of Scrofiano, in the town of Sinalunga. The origins of the village are to be found during the XI Century, although the name can deduce a probable Lombard origin. Scrofiano preserves, almost intact, the medieval structure with the classic elliptical plan arranged with the largest diameter in the east-west. The village also retains some parts of the walls, remains of towers and two of the three doors. It is still possible to see the "Cassero Cacciaconti", an articulated construction in the city centre, whose courtyard and gateway remained almost intact. Scrofiano is part of the much better known "Valdichiana" within which, along a wonderful circuit of about 40 km, it is possible to touch the 9 major centres of this area: from Cetona to Chianciano and Montepulciano passing from San Casciano dei Bagni, Cortona and Sarteano up to Sinalunga. There are four gates to Valdichiana: you can choose to go North dropping from Crete; you can take it behind coming from the East and along the Trasimeno Lake and then over the pass between a luxuriance of olive groves; you can take it from the West going along the Orcia river and then, from Sarteano, starting to feel the fresh air of these place so ancient as to be suspended in time; you can finally arrive South from the "autostrada del sole" taking the Chiusi exit and along the picturesque hilly bends that connect Montepulciano to San Quirico, along those amazing landscapes. The nearby Sinalunga offers as well all the amenities of a modern town and retains an old town full of churches, works of art and Medieval buildings of great charm that makes this place a perfect destination between culture, holidays, hiking and flavours.
